Summary
"Imvi: Echoes of Harmony" is a third-person open-world exploration game where players traverse a shattered alien world using unique gravity-based movement.
As the System & Game Designer, I led a 4-person cross-discipline team to develop the singularity-based Movement System, ensuring fluid traversal and responsive player control across floating islands.
I owned the full lifecycle of the system—including gameplay design, input mapping, animation and VFX implementation, and polish based on extensive playtesting—while tightly integrating the mechanics with exploration and reward-based systems to deepen player engagement and world interaction.
This project reflects my focus on creating intuitive, satisfying movement mechanics that support both moment-to-moment gameplay and the broader emotional experience of discovery.
Design Goals
-
Fluid Gravity-Based Movement:
Empower players with intuitive traversal using attractive and repulsive forces.
-
Exploration Through Momentum:
Encourage players to experiment with movement to reach hidden and rewarding spaces.
-
World as a Playground:
Design environments that support creative navigation and graceful movement expression.
-
Integrated Movement & Storytelling:
Use traversal mechanics to reflect the game’s narrative and emotional tone.
-
Playtest-Driven Refinement:
Continuously improve movement feel and control through iteration and player feedback.
-
Seamless System Integration:
Ensure movement mechanics are meaningfully tied to exploration and reward loops.
