ABOUT ME

Hi, I AM
AIDI 'EDRIAN' HU

I am a system, combat, and level designer from Sichuan, China, a city famous for its spicy food and pandas.

 

Currently, I'm pursuing a Master of Interactive Technology (MIT) in Digital Game Development with a specialization in Level Design at Southern Methodist University (SMU) Guildhall in Dallas, TX. 

Before becoming a designer, I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor's degree in Statistics, a minor in Data Science, and a minor in Game Design.

My background in data science and statistics has profoundly influenced my approach to game design. Understanding player behavior through data allows me to create more engaging and balanced game experiences. By analyzing player interactions, I can fine-tune game mechanics, improve level design, and ensure that the game remains challenging yet enjoyable. This analytical mindset helps me make informed decisions, ultimately enhancing the overall quality and playability of the games I design.

My Favourites

I enjoy a wide variety of games in different genres. Each game offers a unique experience and inspiration for my design work. I make sure to master each game thoroughly, understanding all its mechanics and nuances before moving on to the next. 

I've been playing League of Legends for over ten years, starting from elementary school to the present day, which has given me a deep appreciation for competitive gaming and community engagement.

Music is an integral part of my life.

I have been playing the violin since kindergarten and have joined many orchestras of various sizes, which has given me many irreplaceable experiences of teamwork.

 

I also play drum sets and love exploring different genres and sounds. Music often serves as a source of inspiration for my creative process.

My love for games extends beyond video games to board games as well.

 

I have designed my own board game, modeled the board and pieces, and even 3D-printed them. This process taught me a lot about game mechanics, player interaction, and the physicality of game pieces. It was incredibly rewarding to see my ideas come to life and to watch others enjoy a game I created.
